True Confessions

I have a confession to make.  I know this may jeopardize my Knitters Union Card, but I feel the need to come clean.  I don't like to knit socks. (universal gasp!) Yes, it's true.  I've tried, honest I have! Maybe it's the thin yarn or the little needles or maybe it's because I can knit and knit and knit for hours and still not knit enough to cover my ginormous feet.  And I know I'm a slow knitter.  I can't just whip out a pair of socks in a weekend like some Speed Queens I know; not mentioning any names.*  Below is my most recent attempt at a sock.  I started this about 4-6 months ago and I'm about 4 full rows into the foot.  Not very impressive.

Maybe I should start a Ravelry group for Non-Sock Knitters...

The Joy of Knitting

It's been eons since I've posted and for that I'm sorry.  Even though my life has been in the spin cycle the past few months, I assure you I have been knitting.  But, I can't tell you what I've been knitting...blogs have ears, you know.  Both projects are surprises.  I'll give you a hint: the first project involves something that knitting bloggers are well-known for and the second involves a project from a book famous for a certain warshrag pattern.  There.  That'll keep you guessing for a bit...

I've recently discovered Inox Express circular needles and my heart is filled with glee.  One of the problems I have when I'm knitting is that I have big hands and the shaft part of most circular needles is too petite for my big mitts.  All the circs I've tried make me feel like I'm knitting with my finger tips or like I'm handling some Lilliputian needles.  The Inox Express have the speed of Addis with a longer needle and they have the weightless feeling you get from knitting on circulars.  Life is good.

How fantabulous is Ravelry?!  I am positively hooked on the groups.  I bet I've joined and left 100 groups so far!  True to my membership in "Team Tortoise" and "Procrastiknitters" my entire yarn stash has been sitting on my living room floor just waiting for me to inventory it, photograph it and put it in Ravelry.  But I can't do it right now because there's a "Law & Order" rerun on and I've only seen this one 56 times so far...

Out of hibernation...

It took the 3rd Annual Brigid in Cyberspace Silent Poetry Reading to get me back to my blog.  This year I went decidedly highbrow:
