Visions...
Hi All! I'm taking a break from Ravelry to pose a query...have you ever used Rowan Denim? It's a nice enough yarn except that it splits like crazy and after knitting with it my fingers turn blue. It's supposed to fade and shrink like blue jeans, but I wonder how much it will bleed after the first washing. I'm using it on one of my 'secret squirrel' projects and it would be awful, yes quite awful, if months down the road the finished piece bled blue all over the recipient. Let me know if you've ever encountered this.
On an unrelated note...you know how, every so often, you hear about people seeing visions in strange places? A man sees the face of Jesus in a water stain on the wall or a woman sees the Virgin Mary in a slice of toast? Well take a look at the mysterious stain that appeared on my garage floor. I don't think the Vatican will be interested in THIS!

Ummm...

I've never knit with Rowan Denim before but I heard it's supposed to fade a little with each wash. Not sure what you're making with it but someone I knew washed a baby sweater that had a white star on it with a Woolite Dye Magnet so that the blue didn't bleed onto the star.

Hmmm, never knit with it - but I agree, it would be terrible for your knitting to bleed blue. Especially all over the stain in the garage! ;)

I also have not knit with it, but it does sound like a difficult yarn.

I also haven't knit with it, but I know people whe have. Some wash the yarn in skeins before knitting to deal with the dye-on-the-hands issue, but if your pattern is written assuming not pre-shrunk yarn you can't do that. An old towel on your lap will keep your clothes clean.
Reputedly it shrinks quite a bit. then it stretches out with wearing and reshrinks when it's washed again. Like most cottons, though, it probably won't shrink all the way back and will get a bit bigger over time. How much bigger depends on the structure of the item and the kind of stitch used.
I've also heard it will keep bleeding in the wash for quite a while but a couple of pre-wearing washes should keep the wearer from turning blue. Again, I don't have personal experience, just information from knitters I trust.

The stain looks like a duck to me.

A friend and I put marble tile on the floor in her bathroom, there was a piece with marbling very similar to that. We put sticking out from the commode.
